After a few years away from the spotlight, it looks like Cameron Diaz is about to make an acting comeback. The news broke earlier this week, and fans are already showing their excitement.

News dropped after Jaime Foxx posted an audio clip of himself and Diaz talking to Tom Brady, who knows a thing or two about coming out of retirement himself.

In the tweet, Foxx mentions he and Diaz will star in a new Netflix movie.

"Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I recorded this, but no turning back now," he writes. "Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT."

The new film will be called 'Back in Action.'

Production on this brand new Netflix film is due to start later on this year, which means we won't have to wait too much longer for Diaz's long-awaited comeback.

Diaz also confirmed the news on Instagram.

She posted the same audio clip to her Instagram story, confirming that the news is true.

She wrote, "Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!"

Foxx is set to be one of the film's executive producers.

Seth Gordon, who directed movies like Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief, is the director this time around. He wrote the script alongside Neighbors writer Brendan O'Brien.

As for details on the film, we'll probably have to wait a little longer.

For now though, this little tidbit of info is definitely enough to give fans a lot to talk about in the coming months.

Cameron Diaz rose to prominence in the '90s after starring in 'The Mask' with Jim Carrey.

From there, she became a household name, going on to star in other iconic films, like There's Something About Mary, Charlie's Angels, and Shrek.

Diaz went into retirement in 2018.

After turning 40, Diaz decided to step back from acting in order to focus on her family and other ventures.

"I just looked around and there were so many parts of my life that I wasn’t touching and that I wasn’t managing, and I couldn’t really manage, because everything was so massive."

In 2020, she implied that she would be open to coming back to acting eventually.

"There’s no part of me that’s like, ‘I gotta get back in front of the camera’ or anything like that... I don’t feel that way,” she said. "That’s not to say I won’t someday, but I’m very resolved in where I’m at right now."

Apparently, all it took to come back was Jamie Foxx.

Foxx and Diaz have worked together in the past. They first acted together in Any Given Sunday, and then again in Annie, which ended up being Diaz's last role until now.
