If you've planned a wedding for yourself, are in the middle of planning one, or even just someone who's attended a few of them in your time, you probably know that the average wedding is pretty expensive.

With all the incidentals, the average couple could end up spending nearly $30,000 on their nuptials, which will generally include things like the venue, catering, and the all-important wedding DJ.

And there are some things in a wedding you just won't skimp on.

After all, it's supposed to be the happiest day of your life, a celebration with all your friends and family, and all that good stuff. Most people won't skimp out on important details. For instance, having someone there to play all the good wedding dance songs may be essential.

That's why for many, a wedding DJ is going to be close to the top of the list of must-haves.

The average wedding DJ will cost around $1000, but prices can definitely get a lot higher than that, and quickly.

One DJ and TikToker claims that they're making a lot more than $1000 per wedding.

TikTok user mr__fireworks posted a now-viral video showing their DJ setup at a wedding. The video, posted to the app on May 12, currently boasts over 4.7 million views.

They captioned the TikTok, "White weddings be like."

The video shows people on a dancefloor in front of the DJ's setup. Text overlay reads, "I'm getting paid $4,000 for this, as the camera pans toward two laptop screens, each showing something different.

Interestingly enough, one of the laptop screens is open to a Spotify playlist.

As the user zooms in on the screen, it shows that the Spotify playlist is titled, "Top 200 Wedding Party songs," indicating that they're simply playing whatever popular wedding dance songs might be on that list.

If that's the case, charging $4000 for the night is definitely steep.

With over 658,000 likes and a couple of thousand comments, a lot of people had a lot of different feelings about how this wedding DJ is conducting their work.

Though, for some, this kind of thing doesn't come as a surprise.

And it wasn't just about the price.

"Finally a DJ admits that they just running a playlist," one user commented.

"I hope u have premium so people don’t suspect anything," joked another.

Others thought that having a DJ at their wedding to begin with was unnecessary.

One user wrote, "That’s why I would never hire a DJ. Just make your own playlist people."

Another commented, "Ain’t nobody paying 4k for a DJ."

Some people were quick to point out that the TikToker didn't even seem to be actually using Spotify.

"Notice how the Spotify is on pause," one commenter said.

Another said, "it's not playing it's paused."

In fact, plenty of people noticed this.

Of course, there might be a good explanation for that.

As in, the TikToker probably isn't actually using Spotify at all.

As one commenter said, "I think he is just looking the songs up there lol, the music is not even playing."

In any case, that's a lot of money for a few hours of music.

Many commenters doubted if the DJ actually made that much money at the wedding, or if this is all a joke or over exaggeration. Either way, it sure did stir up a lot of controversy.
