When it comes to mishearing song lyrics, you’re not alone.

Just like the world collectively experiences Mandela effects, such as believing Darth Vader from Star Wars said, “Luke, I am your father," people mistakes lyrics all of the time.

Sometimes, it’s the singer’s fault. They need to get a lot better at enunciating their words (looking at you, Ariana Grande!). And sometimes, it’s no fault but our own.

Regardless, it’s time to get things right! Here, women share their favorite misheard song lyrics.

Hold me closer, Tony Danza

Phoebe from Friends
Insider | NBC

We can thank Phoebe from Friends for this Redditor's lyric disaster! When they were little, they would sing the lyric in Elton John's song, "Tiny Dancer" as "Hold me closer, Tony Danza" instead of "Hold me closer, tiny dancer."

Lonely Starbucks lovers

"In Taylor swift's blank space, she sings 'a long list of ex lovers.' But I've always heard it as 'lonely Starbucks lovers' and I cannot unhear it even now I know what it actually says." - u/problematic_coffee

Nadexter's paradise

Giphy | The Office

This Redditor's sister got a lot of blank stares as a kid when she asked, "who's Nadexter?" She then said the lyric, "Been spending most our lives living in Nadexter's paradise" from the song "Gangsta's Paradise." After they stopped laughing, they corrected her.

I'm farting carrots

Selena Gomez
Giphy | E!

"In Selena Gomez's song Good for You, she sings 'I’m on my fourteen carats, I’m fourteen carats.' But I’ve always heard it as 'I’m a farting carrots, I’m a farting carrot' LOL I die every time I hear that song." - u/truelovepleasepfft

The electric boobs

27 Dresses
Vulture | Universal

You can't even hear the title, "Benny and the Jets" without starting to sing the song by Elton John. But a lot of people, including this Redditor, hilariously misheard, "She’s got electric boots" for "electric boobs." Both are pretty cool.

I will steal a child

Giphy | VH1

"Adele's new song Easy On Me has a lyric that I think says 'I was still a child' but all I ever hear is 'I will steal a child.' Makes me laugh everytime." -u/CarefulWhatUWishFor

I'm a Catholic and I don't do doors

Unsplash | Eric Nopanen

This Redditor's college boyfriend and their roommate used to love the Blues Brothers. In that movie, Aretha Franklin sang, "Trying to make other people lose their minds / Be careful that you don't lose yours." Well, the roommate always heard the last line as, "I'm a Catholic and I don't do doors."

Listen here, buster

youtube | Msmojo

"No scrubs by TLC. 'A scrub is a guy that thinks he's fly And is also known as a BUS STOP.' It’s buster…not bus stop. Figured this out only 16ish months ago. I’m 31." - u/Feisty_Culture_5183

When I grow up, I wanna have... boobies

I mean, most women did wish for that at some point! But this lyric is not what's actually sung in the song, "When I Grow Up" by The Pussycat Dolls. It's actually, "I wanna have groupies."

Sexy time

Rod Stewart and his wife
instagram | Rod Stewart

"Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? By Rod Stewart. I always thought it was 'If you want my money and you think I'm sexy' when it actually is 'If you want my body and you think I'm sexy.' One day I passionately sang that in front of my mom who grew up with that song and she yelled at me." - u/Delinaa

Let's go down to New York City

New York City

New York should've used the song, "Paradise City" by Guns & Roses as their tourist promotion song. That's because one Redditor's mom thought the lyrics said, "Let's go down to New York City" instead of, "Let's go down to the paradise city."

Putting pieces together

Britney Spears
Giphy | X Factor Global

"In Piece of Me by Britney Spears, the lyrics is, 'No wonder there’s panic in the industry I mean please.' I always heard, 'No wonder there’s no Hispanics in the industry I mean please.' When I was a kid I thought she was calling out racism in Hollywood." - u/Miserable_Reality399

I Love Sausage Rolls

Britney Spears
youtube | shore215 productions

Whether you know the song "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" from Joan Jett & the Blackhearts or Britney Spears' version in Crossroads, we can all agree that it's an iconic song.

But instead of rock and roll, one Redditor thought they were singing, "I love sausage rolls."

Snap yo bagels

Unsplash | Diane Alkier

"The good ol 'Snap Yo Fingers' by Lil Jon.. When he yells SNAP YO FENGAAAS I was convinced for the longest time that he said, 'Snap yo bagels.' I was very into that." - u/showmeyurkittys

The cross-eyed bear

Alanis Morissette
Giphy | Alanis Morissette

No one can deny that Alanis Morissette is a lyrical genius. But she probably should've

worked on her enunciation, as many people believe that the line, "The cross I bear that you gave to me" in "You Oughta Know" was actually "Cross-eyed bear that you gave to me" like a teddy bear won at a carnival.

Secret Asian man

Unsplash | Kristina Flour

"Thanks to my dad's singing, I thought it was 'Secret Asian Man.' He used to always sing Secret Asian Man so I used to always picture some Asian spy moving around Chinatown all stealth." - u/MsNewKicks

We fell in love with a hall display

This error was found in the song, "We Found Love" by Rihanna. While the Redditor always thought she said, "We fell in love with a hall display," it's actually, "We found love in a hopeless place." Duh!

For my breakfast, I wish for eggs

Unsplash | Laura Lauch

There's a reason the song, "One" by Metallica makes some people hungry. They misheard the lyric, "Hold my breath as I wish for death" as "For my breakfast, I wish for eggs." Mmm... eggs.

Wet dream, tomato

"Empire state of mind Jay Z and Alicia Keys It’s actually, 'In New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made, oh...' but everyone hears, 'In New York, concrete jungle, wet dream, tomato...'" - u/ButterflyFrequent241
