The actor gave a tearful speech as he accepted his award, saying he was "overwhelmed" by everything he got to do, and the love he received, and the people he worked with.

He cited often in his speech that it is his duty to protect his family, and that's where his calling currently is.

He also went on to talk about the crazy altercation that he had with Chris Rock, when the comedian joked about Smith's wife's hair loss.

"Art imitates life." Will Smith said.

"I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things,"

People online were raving over the speech, absolutely touched by Smith's emotions.

The actor apologized and did say he hoped the Academy would invite him back.

I'm certain his fans will want the same thing.

All in all, while it was an EVENTFUL night for Smith, he definitely deserved the win.
