If you didn't already know (because most of us didn't, tbh), Scarlett Johansson recently welcomed her second child. The 37-year-old never announced that she was pregnant in the first place, so it's no wonder that it managed to stay off our radars.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the actress opened up about her decision to keep her pregnancy on the DL.

ICYMI, Scarlett Johansson, and her husband Colin Jost, recently welcomed their second child.

Johansson welcomed her first child, Rose, in 2014, with her ex-husband, Romain Dauriac.

Then, in August 2021 Johansson and Jost announced they privately welcomed their son, Cosmo, about a year after their wedding.

Jost announced Johansson's pregnancy in August, so it came as quite a surprise to fans when news surfaced the very next day that she had already given birth.

He subsequently took to Instagram to announce Cosmo's arrival.

"Ok ok, we had a baby. His name is Cosmo. We love him very much," he wrote.

Later, appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers he revealed that his mom was a bit "thrown" by their decision to name their baby Cosmo.

"My mom, I would say, was slightly thrown by it and didn't quite understand it. I don't know if she thought it was kind of like a hippie thing," he explained.

"She would call us after three or four days," he continued. "And she'd be like, 'And now, is it final? Like, did you submit the birth certificate?' And we're like, 'Oh, yeah, we did that at the hospital.'"

He revealed that she tried to offer alternative versions of the name, including "Cosimo" and "Cosmos."

To which Jost responded, "'We don't need more, worse variants on Cosmo. But thanks, Mom."

Anyway, in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Johansson opened up about her decision to keep her second pregnancy a secret.

She explained that it was in an effort to shield herself from criticism.

"I've been so protective of both pregnancies, not wanting to feel scrutinized in the public eye," she said.

She said that she "wanted to be able to have [her] own feelings about [her] changing body without other people also telling [her] how they saw [her], whether it was positive or negative."

The Marvel star explained that amid her second pregnancy, she realized people tend to project "their hopes or their judgment or their desire" onto her.

"I would have a lot of people saying things to me immediately, like, 'How great, oh my God, that's wonderful.' And while I was definitely excited to be pregnant in some ways, I also had a lot of not-great feelings about it," she shared.

She admitted that she felt "scrutinized," by women in her inner circle who had given birth before.

"You expect it from men, but from women, it's like, 'Come on, girl, you've been through it,'" she said.

She praised one friend, adding: "When I told her that I was pregnant — she knew I was trying to get pregnant — She was just like, 'Oh [expletive]. Great, but not great.' And I was like, 'You're a true friend.'"
