Is Nothing Sacred? McDonalds Has Created A Cilantro Sundae

There shouldn't be anything controversial about an ice cream sundae. What's not to like about ice cream, mixed with whatever little ingredients you like best? Bananas, strawberries, cherries, chocolate sauce... maybe even some soda or root beet if you're really feeling adventurous.

But some people prefer to think about whether they can make an ice cream sundae with anything, rather than if they should, and this time, the offender is McDonalds.

Cilantro is one of the most controversial foods.

For some people, cilantro is just a tasty vegetable, but for others, it's a little green leaf that tastes like soap. What it is for you depends on your particular tastebuds.

This doesn't sound like it would be ideal for a delicious ice cream dessert, but McDonalds China had a different idea.

That's right. They introduced the cilantro sundae.

The dessert is soft-served ice cream, topped with a tarty lime sauce and sprinkled with cilantro, according to their website, and while it might actually look pretty tasty, the actual reviews online so far have been fairly mixed. I suppose it shouldn't be surprising when it comes to cilantro!

Some people online have loved it, and others are upset at the very idea.

"Cilantro Sundae is genius. People make fun of Americans who do this, but I love going to fast food places overseas and trying the different menu items," tweeted one user.

"Would you eat Chinese McDonald’s Cilantro Sundae? Finally, soap flavored ice cream," added another.

What about you?

Would you be brave enough to try a cilantro sundae, or would you rather stick to the flavors that you know and love already? Let us know how you feel in the comments!

Personally, I think you should try everything at least once before you complain about it, but I can't see this one becoming the new Shamrock Shake. But stranger things have happened!
