Getting in shape is no easy task, for anybody. But getting in the kind of peak physical condition as some of Hollywood's most revered actors is damn near impossible.

Recently, actor Channing Tatum sat down with Kelly Clarkson to discuss his upcoming film Magic Mike's Last Dance. In the interview, Channing revealed that in order to look the way he does on screen — he has to literally starve himself.

Over the years, Channing Tatum has carved out quite the career for himself.

Long gone are the days when Channing used to shake his money-maker in Ricky Martin's music videos. No, I'm not lying. A lot of people have no memory of it, but yes, it's true.

However, he's famous for a whole lot more now (as he rightfully deserves to be).

Since then, the actor has starred in some of the biggest comedies/action movies of the past two decades.

But of all the memorable films Channing has appeared in, he's best known for a little film called 'Magic Mike'.

You remember that movie right? The one where we got to see Channing Tatum shirtless for two hours?

In case you've been living under a rock for the last decade, Magic Mike tells the story of a veteran stripper who dreams of one day owning his own custom furniture business.

'Magic Mike' was both a commercial as well as a critical success.

Hot on the heels of Magic Mike mania, Tatum starred in the film's first sequel Magic Mike XXL back in 2015. A third and presumably final film, Magic Mike's Last Dance, is in pre-production.

It will apparently debut sometime in the coming year.

During a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly and Channing sat down to discuss Magic Mike. Needless to say, we learned some very interesting things about what he went through.

It mostly had to do with how he achieved his fit body.

After the hostess got Channing to confirm that the third film is indeed happening, production flashed a photo of a shirtless Tatum in full-on Magic Mike mode.

After Kelly complimented Channing's incredible physique, the actor revealed just how difficult the body transformation is.

"That might be the reason why I didn't want to do a third one," Channing admitted. "Because I have to look like that."

Sounding somewhat surprised by his response, Kelly asked Channing how often he works out in real life.

"It's hard to look like, even if you do work out, to be that kind of 'in shape' — it's not natural," Tatum said flatly.

Kelly probed further by asking Tatum just how well he had to eat in order to look as cut as he does on film.

"'Well' is not even — that's not even healthy," Channing replied. "You have to starve yourself. I don't think when you're that lean it's actually healthy."

Kelly then jokingly responded to Channing's comments, warning her viewers at home that health is dangerous.

The hostess told Channing that's the reason why she herself doesn't work out — because she's just trying to lead by example and help to save peoples' lives.

But then Kelly swiftly tried to make the attempt to get the interview back on track.

Kelly asked Channing to describe the mental process behind getting in shape.

"Truly, I don't know how people who work a 9-5 actually stay in shape," Tatum answered.

"Because it's my full-time job and I can barely do it."

Tatum also said that he works out twice a day and can only eat select meals at certain times.

Kelly then asked Channing to name the food item he misses the most while attempting to get into tip-top shape.

Without a moment's hesitation, Channing answered "Salt."

That's right — his diet is so strict that he can't even allow himself the luxury of seasoning his food! And that's really the most BASIC of seasoning. Hopefully, he managed to put in some herbs...

"Everything just tastes like, I don’t know, water," Tatum described. "It’s nothing."

Not many actors out there are willing to literally starve themselves for their fans and for their art. Which, I mean, I don't blame them considering the major trauma that can potentially put on your body.

So for all that you've done and all you continue to do for us, Channing, we all just want to say "thank you."
