Walmart is a large department store with nearly everything under the sun from groceries, to electronics, to clothing, to office supplies. That being said, there are still a few things you can't just pick up at Walmart.

A Texas woman was arrested recently for approaching a mother while in a Walmart and attempting to purchase her baby right there for cash.

A mother had a very unexpected interaction while running errands last week.

She was at the Walmart in Crockett, Texas, with her two children, her one-year-old in the cart and her baby in a car seat. She was using the self-checkout to finish up her shopping when she was approached by a woman named Rebecca Lanette Taylor.

Taylor complimented the son's blonde hair and blue eyes.

The conversation took a sharp turn immediately after when she then allegedly asked "how much she could purchase him for" according to the probable cause affidavit.

The mother "tried to laugh this comment off, thinking Taylor was joking. Taylor told her that she had $250,000 in the car and she would pay that much for him."

The mother said no amount would do, and asked Taylor to get away from her son.

“Taylor said that he was the perfect fit and she had been wanting to buy a baby for a long time now,” the affidavit said.

Taylor was reportedly with another woman, who tried to ask the son's name, but neither he nor the mother gave an answer. Despite this, Taylor and the other woman seemed to know his name anyway, as they began using it to address him.

The mother waited it out until the two women finally left.

When she eventually tried to leave, Taylor caught up with her in the parking lot and began screaming at her. According to the affidavit, Taylor was "saying if she wouldn’t take $250,000 for him, then she would give $500,000 because she wanted him and she was going to take him."

The mother was able to leave the parking lot safely.

She filed a police report soon afterward, and an investigation showed the security footage lining up with her account perfectly.

An officer then went to Taylor's home. "She told me that she doesn’t like thieves, then she stated I could speak with her attorney and to get off her ‘precipice.’ She slammed the door shut."

That being said, she was arrested this past Tuesday.

She was charged with sale or purchase of a child, a third-degree felony, according to jail records. If convicted, she'll face a minimum of two years in jail and a maximum of 10, as well as a potential $10,000 fine.
