Two years after the heartbreaking and tragic deaths of Kobe and Gianna Bryant, their legacies are now being commemorated with a 160-pound, bronze statue created by L.A.-based sculptor Dan Medina.

The statue of Kobe and Gianna is located at the site of the helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, where they and seven others passed in the tragic accident that took place in January 2020.

Marking the second anniversary of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna's death, a statue has been created in their honor.

A 160-pound, bronze figure depicts the NBA hall-of-famer with his 13-year-old daughter.

Both Kobe and Gianna are in their respective basketball uniforms and numbers, 24 and 8.

The statue was placed at the site of the helicopter crash that killed them and seven others on January 26, 2020.

The creator of the sculpture, Dan Medina, inscribed "Heroes come and go but legends are forever" at the base, as well as the names of the seven other victims.

According to TMZ, Medina brought the statue to the crash site on the morning of January 26, to commemorate the anniversary of the tragedy.

He plans to bring it back every year on the anniversary of the crash, and on Kobe's birthday.

He also revealed that he is working on an additional, life-size version of the statue that he would like installed at the site on a permanent basis.

Which is of course, a lot more practical than lugging the smaller one there twice a year.

"I think we need something like this to be installed on a permanent basis," Medina said.

Adding that he would like to be the one to do it: "It hasn’t been done yet and this is maybe a catalyst for that."

He added that he would be willing to donate the current one at no cost.

"But I’m willing to donate whatever’s here at no cost. That’s the hope, to find a way to have it permanently installed," Medina said.

Medina explained that he had recently visited the site to scout a space for his sculpture, and described the space as looking deserted.

He said there was nothing more than an empty lot and a "few rocks and dried flowers."

"I thought they deserved more. Not just Kobe and Gigi, but all of the lives that were lost that day," he said.
