It's a riddle of the modern, gig economy-oriented age: if your delivery driver gets arrested before they can complete a delivery to you, what happens to your delivery?

Well, in one instance, the arresting officer stepped up to complete the order.

Once upon a time, you could only get pizza, Chinese food, and a few other options delivered to your house. But thanks to services like DoorDash and Uber Eats, you can get virtually any kind of food delivered right to your door.

It's a gig economy thing.

Drivers for these companies work on a freelance basis, and, as many of us can attest, the quality of their service can vary considerably. Sometimes, deliveries can be totally messed up.

A DoorDash driver ran into some hot water recently.

While en route to deliver some Arby's to TikToker Anastasia Elsinger, the driver was apprehended and arrested by a police officer.

What happened to all the delicious curly fries and horsey sauce?

While you might expect this order to be orphaned, growing colder and colder in the backseat, the arresting officer decided to spring into action and complete the order himself.

Anastasia received quite a surprise.

Her doorbell cam captured the entire exchange. A uniformed police officer was walking up her front steps, which seemed ominous. But he was carrying Arby's, which is good. He also had a big smile on his face.

The police officer was there to deliver Anastasia's food.

Carrying two bags full of Arby's goodness along with a fountain drink, the officer had a brief exchange with Anastasia to explain what was going on.

After Anastasia opens the door, the police officer says, "I know I'm not who you're expecting, but your driver got arrested for [warrants], so I figured I'd complete the DoorDash for you."

The handoff was complete.

Anastasia ordered food and eventually, she got it. It just took kind of a circuitous route to wind up in her hands.

The officer then got back to work.

Since Arby's deliveries aren't a part of his job description, the officer kept the exchange brief. After making sure Anastasia had her food, he turned around, walked down the steps and headed back to his patrol car.

It's a delivery gone right.

I mean, it didn't go right for the driver who wound up in jail, but it did go right for Anastasia. Let us know what you think in the comments. You can check out the whole exchange right here.
