Charles Le Brun was an artist in the 1600s who had an interest in animals and how they have passions and characteristics like people. In a collection of drawings and lectures called "Physiognomy," which means "knowledge of nature," he explored the relationship between animals, humans, and emotions. He wanted to understand what would happen when you dehumanize a man and humanize an animal following the philosophies of Descartes' Passions of the Soul.
I know, seems complicated, but if you look at the pictures, you can see similar humans and animals really are.
Sadly, the majority of his lectures on the subject are lost but we have been left with these incredible drawings that give us a look into how humans would look like if we were similar to other animals!
Kind of neat, right? Take a look and let us know what you think in the COMMENTS!
