If you're a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, you know those questions. The ones that seem innocuous or curious to those on the outside, but are part of a larger, cultural movement towards the "othering" of minority groups.
We get these questions all the time, and when one professor of a human sexuality course turned the tables on the heterosexuals in the class, a student's tweet about it went viral.
During a class about early research into sexualities, the professor included a slide titled "Questions for Heterosexuals in the Class."
Awkward? Well, yeah, but that was the point.
Is a survey like this going to solve the cultural problems it illustrates? Of course not.
By allowing people to experience the world in the same way someone else does, even in a small way, it can help change the world for the better.
That's why diversity — not just of sexuality or ethnicity, but also of thought — is so important. We learn from each other's experiences.
