Woman Shows Up A Month Early For Microsoft Job Interview And Exchange Goes Viral

Job interviews are easily one of the most stressful things we ever put ourselves through. It's only your ability to pay rent/mortgage/groceries and possibly lifelong hopes and dreams, and years of planning, education, and preparation on the line, right?

Laura, a 21-year-old management and marketing student at Robert Gordon University in the UK, was understandably worked up over an upcoming job interview.

It was a big one, a Skype interview with no less than Microsoft's University Recruitment team. With a full year of working and learning in one of the biggest companies in the world at stake, she was eagerly prepping.

So it's understandable to be a bit flustered and nervous when you get into the room with the recruiters.

And if you're anything like me, that often means your brain taking a vacation at the time it's needed most. For Laura MacLean, it was a bit worse than that.

Like most of us would, she had her folks and her friends tossing her mock interview questions, and she studied up as much as she could on the company.

Preparation wasn't going to be her downfall. Over-preparation, however, was a real risk, as she discovered when she sat down at her computer for the Skype call one morning.

As she shared on Twitter, she was a bit too excited for her interview.

When time for the 11 a.m. call rolled around, and then became 11:15 with no call coming in, she started to worry and sent the recruiters an email to find out if maybe there was a connection issue. These things do happen, after all.

The recruiters didn't take long to get back to her.

Apparently everything was working fine and going according to the agreed upon schedule, the "18th of February." Of course, that's where it had all gone wrong for Laura.

See, she was pretty sure it was the 18th of February.

It was, of course, the 18th of January. "All dressed up ready n freaking out for my big skype interview with Microsoft and this happens," she later wrote on Twitter, sharing her big whoopsie with the world. "Possibly the biggest noob on this planet hahahahaha if you don't laugh you'll cry."

Not the greatest first impression in history, showing up for your interview an entire month early, right?

But we love someone who is prompt and timely!

Imagine how stressed out and horrified you'd be.

But the folks on the other end seemed pretty chill about it. Not sure if they were laughing along with Laura, but her Twitter followers sure were.

No surprise, her tweet struck a chord with a lot of people.

It blew up quickly, receiving more than 185,000 likes and 34,000 retweets. And a lot of the folks who commented were committed to finding silver linings for Laura's situation.

Dee Inguva was quick to remind Laura that she will be heavily mistaken many times in her life.

First of all, rude. Second of all, what a nightmare!

But there were plenty of others who shared stories of their own job-related scheduling messes.

Like the guy who took a transatlantic flight for a meeting that was still a month off. So hey, at least Laura's not alone, right?

Also let's take a moment to remember Laura's birthday is in February...

Her family and the internet wont let her forget that she thought this interview was after her birthday that hasn't happened yet.

Microsoft is still chuckling, and we love their sense of humour!

There's a lot riding on this day now, even I'm feeling the pressure.

But Molly has it right! I say we cancel Twitter if this doesn't happen, tbh.

Microsoft can't let out girl down now! Hasn't she suffered enough?

Here's hoping that everything goes according to plan when February 18th finally rolls around!

I bet she'll crush it!
