There's A Huge 'Spider-Man' Plot Hole That Has Even Tom Holland Confused

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, please join me for yet another look into the world of Avengers: Endgame, the most profitable movie of all time. Or, at the time of writing, second most.

Spoilers ahead, folks.

Giphy

If you have yet to see the movie (even though the spoiler ban has totally been lifted, so you better get on that quick) then I suggest selling your laptop for magic beans if you don't want it ruined for you.

Right, now that they're gone.

Avengers: Endgame was iconic before it was even released.

It capped off ten years of cinema so perfectly and was an amazing end to a franchise. We can only look to the fut... what's that? The MCU isn't over?

Yeah, they're still going.

IMDb

Oh... uh... alright! Perfect!

Well, turns out there's a new Spider-Man movie coming out, entitled SpiderMan: Far From Home. It takes place right after Endgame, which as we all know...

Takes place after Tony Stark's death.

Reddit | LoudOperation

Oh yeah, you better believe that folks. Clearly, you've seen the movie if you scrolled down this far, but if you haven't then I'm sorry, please don't beat me up. I have very bruisable flesh.

Anyways, so Peter Parker has to deal with that.

IMDb

He's gotta live in a world without Iron Man, has to try to live up to his mentor's status, has to eventually fight Mysterio (yeah, he's a good guy in the trailer, but if you can't see that he's going to turn bad then you haven't been paying attention).

And, he's gotta do high school stuff.

IMDb

Which has always been the most interesting part about Peter Parker.

That he has to do this superhero work while still attempting to be a high schooler.

Everyone thinks he's a d-bag because he never shows up for parties or dates or whatever, but it's only because he's SpiderMan.

In this movie, he's in Europe with his classmates.

IMDb

I assume he'll be getting together with MJ, unless of course they decide to stay friends in this version and he'll palling around with his buddy Ned.

I'm sure Nick Fury will be thrilled.

But enough about the movie.

If you wanna see Far From Home, I'm sure you've already gotten your Disney brand Mysterio Helmet and your Elemental jammies all ready to go, so we're going to talk about a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Jimmy had the cast of Spider-Man on the show.

They talked about both Endgame and Far From Home.

All was fine and good, they were talking about quickly the trailer got views. Everyone was super surprised, which they shouldn't have been, because it's a Marvel movie.

Then Tom Holland talks about how bad he is at Instagram.

YouTube | Jimmy Kimmel Live

Apparently, the young actor forgot to post the trailer.

He wakes up, they were supposed to post it at 6 AM, and he couldn't figure out why he was getting followers.

Then, he remembered the trailer. Zendaya eventually had to teach him how to do it.

Then, Jimmy drops a bomb.

So since Endgame takes place five years after the snap, and Far From Home takes place after Endgame, Jimmy just has one question for the group of actors...

Why are they still in high school?

YouTube | Jimmy Kimmel Live

Which makes a lot of sense.

Presumably, high school in the Marvel universe works the same as high school in the real world, so why would the characters who weren't snapped still be in high school?

And Tom Holand has nothing to say.

YouTube | Jimmy Kimmel Live

"Why... Why are we still in high school?" He asks, and nobody pipes up.

Except for Cobie Smulders and Jacob Batalon who say: "I don't wanna pull that thread. But y'know, I don't know. It might be one of the biggest plot holes of all time" respectively."

Here are some theories:

IMDb
  1. They shut down school during the time of the snap, for five whole years.

  2. All the important characters in the series (Peter, Ned, MJ, Flash) were all snapped at the same time.

  3. They're all really stupid.

What do you think?

IMDb

Do you think they're still in high school based on convenience? Laziness? Some sort of time loop?

Heck, maybe they're all just really dumb and couldn't pass grade... whatever for 5 years.

I could see it, they all collectively seem pretty dull.
