Octopus Attacks Woman's Face After She Tries To Eat It Alive

We tend not to think of eating a meal as a high-risk proposition. But when you're a livestreamer who wants more views, sometimes adding a little bit of danger to dinner is the way to go. And sometimes, dinner fights back.

Time for some octopus talk.

We don't think of them much because, for the most part, they stick to their world and we stick to ours. But these eight-limbed, beaked marine beasts are highly intelligent. They might be small, but it's best not to mess with them.

They're also delicious.

Whether you're having some calamari rings or this monstrosity, where the sodium in soy sauce resurrects a dead creature, the octopus is a popular seafood choice around the world.

A livestreamer was eating octopus recently.

Chinese streamer 'seaside girl Little Seven' opted to share her experience with followers. But she wasn't settling in for a plate of calamari rings. Instead, she made the choice to eat the octopus alive.

Ehh, things went south pretty much immediately. The octopus gets some firm suction all over the woman's face. At first, she's somewhat chill about the whole thing, methodically trying to extract the suckers.

It really hung on.

Each sucker appears pretty difficult to pull off, and some appear to reattach after they've been separated. This octopus clearly was not ready to be eaten just yet.

Calmness gives way to panic as the woman begins to cry and moan. She manages to pull off some of the suckers, but tells the camera that she can't remove them all.

The woman wasn't making a whole lot of progress in pulling the octopus off her face but suddenly, as quickly as it started, the creature seemed to say 'enough is enough' and relinquished its grip.

She was a little worse for wear.

The areas where the octopus clung most fiercely looked red and irritated, and even broke the skin on her cheek. She got over it though, joking that she'd eat the octopus next time.

You can watch the whole thing play out for yourself here, if you can stomach it.

I don't like it.

I shouldn't laugh...

It seems inhumane to eat any creature alive, and it seems cruel to laugh at somebody who's in pain. But seriously, just eat your meals normally and these things won't happen.

Some people are skeptical about her intentions for making the video and posting it publicly.

Some people have cast a little doubt on whether or not she set this whole thing up on purpose — why would someone continue to film her and not help?

But, there is a way to eat live octopus if you really wanted to.

Sannakji is a Korean dish made up of chopped baby octopus tentacles, which are still active when it's served.

But special care is taken when eating the dish because the tentacles can suction to the mouth and even throat.

If your meal is still alive and has eight limbs covered with suckers, maybe it's best to rethink your meal.
