Woman Upcycles Hundreds Of Plastic Bags Into A Custom Suit

Isn't it amazing how some people can be so creative? I mean, there are those who can make things out of virtually anything. And when they have unique skills such as knitting or sewing the possibilities seem endless.

So this 75-year-old lady who originally immigrated from Greece but now lives in western New York took on an unusual project and the results are mind-blowing.

The world is riddled with plastic bags that only seem to go to waste.

But what this lady did with hundreds of them is only short of amazing.

Rosa Ferrigno got inspired when she saw a family friend at a picnic carrying a purse made from repurposed plastic bags.

And she thought she could try it herself.

Rosa is normally a very active lady and she often takes on knitting projects.

But this one was her most ambitious and most impressive one to date. What an endeavor.

Since she was once a seamstress she thought, "Why not put my skills to good use?"

She ended up making two different purses after watching how-to YouTube videos.

But she didn't just stop there.

She wanted to do one better. So she came up with an idea to make a skirt and jacket suit out of Wegmans bags.

To take on this creative winter project she needed to use 170 bags for the jacket and about 140 for the skirt.

And it took her two months to complete.

First, she needed to cut strips out of the plastic bags to make yarn-like texture so she could knit with it.

That must have taken her quite some time.

Then, she realized that none of her regular knitting needles could handle this unique job, so she ended up making her own large needles to get it done right.

She's such a problem-solver!

The long process of actually knitting the two pieces must have been so labor intensive, but ultimately must have been so satisfying in the end.

I mean I can't believe this is all done with plastic bags. The craftsmanship is nothing short of amazing. These are skills, people!

If you're not impressed yet, get a load of this, she didn't even use a pattern to make the suit.

And it ended up fitting her perfectly. Shocking, I know!

Then she showed it all off at the next brunch she attended.

And people couldn't believe their eyes. Everyone thought the suit was made out of regular yarn.

The only difference is when you touch the fabric, it obviously doesn't feel like yarn and it makes a bit of a swooshing sound when walking.

Still, this is a very cool design and it's eco-friendly!

Just when I thought I've seen some really impressive creative projects, this comes along.

This is probably the coolest lady to have around. She can knit your entire wardrobe out of plastic bags!
