Jonas Brothers Reunite With The Release Of New Single 'Sucker'

Andrew Roberts 28 Feb 2019

The wait is over for fans of the Jonas Brothers. After a few years of separate projects, marriages, and acting opportunities, Nick, Joe, and Kevin are back.

It will be the first music from the group since 2013 and they're celebrating it with help from James Corden.

Takeover

The brothers announced their return through The Late Late Show as part of their weeklong takeover all next week -- a nice kickoff to March for Jonas Brothers fans.

According to Variety, the group will sit for a chat Monday with Corden to discuss their reunion -- a secret for close to 8 months -- and will stick around through the week:

Throughout the week, they will take part in sketches, songs and various show segments, including “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts,” a brand new “Carpool Karaoke,” plus the world premiere musical performance of their new single, “Sucker.”

While the reunion has technically already kicked off, it won't be official until 12 a.m. EST with the release of "Sucker." The band has already shared a snippet of the tune in the clip with Corden, and they've provided links for fans to pre-load the song to their favorite streaming platforms.

In The Works For Months

The Jonas Brothers have apparently been working in their reunion for a few months now, just a little short of a year. Nick Jonas did tease it on social media earlier this month, though not with any explicit announcements.

Putting Differences Aside

According to CapitalFM, the brothers had worked hard to mend the differences that split them apart back in 2013:

An insider has told tabloids a few weeks back that the brothers had put their differences aside for the reunion.

They said: "It’s no secret that things weren’t great by the end of the Jonas Brothers, but blood is thicker than water and they’ve healed their rift in the years since the split."

What Have They Been Up To?

All three brother have had success as solo artists following the 2013 hiatus. Nick Jonas found success with songs like“Jealous” and “Chains.” He also had a taste of acting with a role on Scream Queens and Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle.

Joe Jonas notably became the lead singer of the band DNCE, delivering hits like “Cake by the Ocean." They also teamed with Rod Stewart for a remake of "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" that ended up being performed at the VMAs.

Wedding

Nick Jonas also made plenty of headlines with his marriage to Indian superstar Priyanka Chopra. The couple were engaged in August 2018, with the marriage following in December with Hindu and Christian ceremonies.

Together Again

While they were photographed together for the wedding -- naturally -- the reunion itself will be their first time together professionally since 2013.

The Reactions Should Be Expected

Fans are excited, as should be expected. But the many different outlets and streaming platforms seem pretty happy the group is back too.

Back Before One Direction

There were also a few looking to stir up feud rumors with One Direction, the fellow boy rock group that has seemingly split to focus on solo projects.

It should be noted that Harry Styles was one of the first artists to do a weeklong takeover of Corden's show, even hosting it for a bit at one point. So at least a part of One Direction has a bit on the bros.

Shawn Mendes also took over for a week, but no one seems to be mentioning him at the moment.

Tears Will Flow

The real true fans are the ones who are getting entirely too emotional over this reunion and eventual concert tour.

You would think this was Pink Floyd at Live 8 or The Beatles rising from the dead for a one-time concert at Citi Field. That seems to be the feeling from Jonas Brothers fans.

We'll just have to wait and see.
