Priyanka Chopra Revealed Why She Decided To Take Nick Jonas' Last Name

Priyanka and Nick are basically the cutest thing since puppies. Normally PDA grosses me out, but with these two, it's totally acceptable.

That being said, we live in a day and age when women are on the rise, and going against social norms is the new norm.

Women don't have to take their husband's last names, or even get married for that matter. But Priyanka has taken the old fashioned route, and her reasoning is actually kind of sweet.

The pair started dating in May of 2017, and tied the knot in December.

They've been surprisingly open with their relationship on social media, and have kept us all in the loop the entire time they've been together.

They haven't been shy about flaunting their love every chance they get.

The two both post an almost absurd amount of romantic photos together on Instagram.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't green with envy.

Priyanka opened about on "The Ellen Show" for the first time since marrying Nick, about how well things are going between them.

She shared the details of how they got to know each other, and about how Nick slid into her DMs before they got together.

She had some very sweet things to say about her husband.

"He's nice, and it shocks me how he's not been corrupted, you know how when you're in entertainment for such a long time," she told Ellen, adding "He's so family-driven, it's all about his parents... You know, he's just really nice and sweet."

It's obvious that these two are absolutely smitten about each other.

Ugh, my heart. I'm a puddle right now.

Priyanka recently made an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and she explained her choice to take Nick's last name.

It couldn't be more adorable.

"He gets added to who I am" she told Jimmy.

"I'm a little traditional and old school like that." she added.

"I always wanted to add his name to mine, because I feel like we're becoming family,"

That is the softest thing I've ever heard, and I love it.

But she wants people to know that it isn't going to get in the way of who she was before Nick came along.

"But I don't take away my identity," she said.

Priyanka also revealed in the same interview that she was originally opposed to having a big wedding ceremony.

But she knew that if they had their wedding in India, a big wedding was going to be inevitable.

Her initial plans were far from what ended up happening.

"I wanted to get married on some private island, away from everything, and we were really stressed out about it," she said, adding "We thought Seychelles, Maldives, Mauritius, but nothing was working out."

While Priyanka and Nick were visiting Mumbai, he convinced her to have the wedding ceremony in her home country.

"Nick just said, 'Why aren't we doing this in India? Shouldn't I be taking my bride from her home?'" she said. "And when he said that, I was like, 'Oh.'"

And the rest is history. The two had a giant wedding in India, after all.

Following that, they had another ceremony in North Carolina.

I am gushing over these two.

But Priyanka isn't the only female celeb to take her husband's last name.

These two seem just as obsessed with each other as Priyanka and Nick.

After getting married on paper, Hailey took on the famous Bieber name, and it totally suits her.

Although Hailey and Justin are technically married, I have to admit, we were all looking forward to a huge, extravagant wedding ceremony.

I was a tad disappointed to find out they got married so quietly.

But they seem to be happier than ever.

Here's a few more celebs who also took their husband's last names. Starting with Kim Kardashian.

She hyphenated her last name, adding the West name to her own.

Jessical Biel took Justin Timberlake's last name.

Although she still goes by her maiden name in the public eye, on paper she is an official Timberlake.

Something I wish I was.

Miranda Lambert took her ex husband, Blake Shelton's last name.

She unfortunately lived to regret that choice after their divorce, and even released a song about changing her last name back to Lambert.

Jennifer Garner took her now ex husband, Ben Affleck's last name.

Although she continued to go by her own last name, on paper, she was an Affleck the entire time they were married. Who knew!

Victoria Beckham has been going by her husband's last name for as long as I can remember.

Beckham has been her last name for so long in fact, I couldn't even remember what her maiden name was.

It's Adams for anybody that's curious!

Fergie changed her last name to Duhamel after marrying her husband, Josh Duhamel.

Her husband found out about her name change through the media, and thought it was a very kind gesture.

"It was so sweet. It was her plan for a while, but she finally found the time. When the baby comes she wanted all of us to have the last name. It was very sweet." he said.

While Katy Perry was married to Russel Brand, she had her last name changed to his.

Although their relationship was short-lived, and we never actually ended up calling her Katy Brand, on paper, that was her name.

Ellen Degeneres's wife, Portia de Rossi, is actually Portia Lee James Degeneres.

The more you know!

I love this, because even though Ellen isn't Portia's husband, she still made the gesture of taking her last name.

Very cute.

Priyanka's choice to add Jonas to her last name is a super sweet way of expressing her commitment to her husband.

It may be old fashioned by today's standards, but I still think it's a heartwarming gesture.

Taking your husband's last name is cute AF. But keeping your own last name, like Chrissy Teigen for example, instead is fierce is hell. I respect both.

I think the bottom line is women should just be able to do whatever they want to in this regard.

I'm changing my name to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock.

Girl power!
