People Have Theories About Ariana Grande Kissing A Woman

If there's a fanbase more ravenous these days than Ariana Grande's, then I'm honestly scared to find out. The so-called Arianators keep up with just about every detail of Ari's life, and that means that no stone goes unturned every time that she makes a post on social. Her latest series on Insta definitely has people talking.

In a series of Insta posts, Ari is seen hanging out with friends Courtney Chipolone and Alexa Luria.

The posts' captions may sound familiar to fans of a certain movie. This one is captioned "would u like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?"

Maybe this quote will sound more familiar.

This post got the caption "i’m on an all carb diet GOD KAREN U ARE SO STooPID." Come on, that one's got to be more familiar?

Mean Girls, anyone?

Anyway, it was this third picture that really got everybody talking.

Instagram | @arianagrande

Along with the caption "yeah but she’s my FIRST cousin," this pic has over 3 million Likes already, and more importantly, has the speculation machine going at full tilt.

Load Comments

Some people were wondering who this person was, why they were kissing, and really, what all of this was about.

Instagram | @arianagrande

Plus, there's that whole cousins thing.

Ari added fuel to the fire by reposting the images to her Insta story, along with some extra captions.

Load Comments

"All of this is tea," she wrote, across the three posts.

Instagram | @arianagrande

Ari fans were going to freak out regardless, but without a doubt, Ms. Grande herself calling it "tea" set people's investigations into overdrive.

Load Comments

What could this possibly be tea about?

Instagram | @arianagrande

Was she talking about the pictures, the Mean Girls references, the kiss? All of it?

Load Comments

Some people took the "cousins" thing really seriously, and we can't really blame them.

Instagram | @arianagrande

"Yeah but she’s my FIRST cousin," is a Mean Girls reference, but Grande and Chipolone have made reference before to being IRL cousins. I don't have a Grande family tree in front of me, so I can't confirm, but we have to wonder if the kiss is what we're supposed to be looking into.

Load Comments

After all, Ari has made reference to being done with men in the recent past.

When a fan tweeted "Ariana Grande is like one song away from making girls never talk to guys ever again," she quote tweeted it, saying "thank god."

Load Comments

You can't really blame some fans for thinking that "the tea" might be Ari coming out.

Instagram | @arianagrande

Could that possibly be the message that Grande was trying to get across? Maybe the real answers could be found on Ari's other social.

Over on social, Ari posted the same pictures, with yet another "Mean Girls" ref.

Twitter | @ArianaGrande

In case it's been a minute since you saw Mean Girls, "The Plastics" is the nickname given to queen bee Regina George (Rachel McAdams) and her posse.

Load Comments

In case the reference needed further explaining, Ari added this collage to her Insta story.

Clearly her fans picked up on the references she was putting down.

Load Comments

Back on Twitter, some fans were absolutely here for the same-sex implications of the photos.

Twitter | @baby_momo__

Clearly @baby_momo__ wanted the pic to be a little less Mean Girls and a little more Carol, if you know what I'm saying.

I think it's safe to say that some people were fed up with men on Ari's (and maybe their own) behalf.

Twitter | @bocaslumos

Maybe Ari was saying "thank u, next" to men in general and was willing to give people of a different gender a try.

Load Comments

Ari herself wasn't exactly much more help in deciphering what "the tea" was.

Instagram | @arianagrande, Twitter

Clearly, she just wanted people to keep whispering, and she wasn't going to help anybody understand any better.

Load Comments

When pressed for details or clarification, she was...let's say, less than forthcoming.

Twitter | @grandefemale, Twitter

It wasn't clear exactly which speculation she was talking about, but she seemed confident that nobody had yet guessed what she was teasing.

Load Comments

She did, at least, give a timeline of when we might actually find out what was going on.

Twitter | @ArianaGrande

We'd apparently know "more" tomorrow, but that doesn't mean we'll know everything. And what's with all the Mean Girls?

Load Comments

Twitter user @bocaslumos asked the question that we were all asking after Ari's last tweet.

Instagram | @arianagrande, Twitter

Unfortunately, Ari's response didn't exactly give us a lot to go on either. The concept for WHAT, Ari?!

Load Comments

Again, somebody was willing to ask what we were all thinking.

Twitter | @wegotnotear, Twitter

But, again, Ari deflected, and insisted that we check back later for more details. This is basically Twitter clickbait, and I'm honestly not here for it.

Load Comments

User @godisawomanag called out Ari's Insta story, insisting that we get the rest of the story about what she was talking about.

Twitter | @godisawomanag, Instagram

Could this cross-platform plea finally lead to the answers we so desperately want?

Load Comments

But, again, Ariana refused to reveal anything until a later time.

Instagram | @arianagrande, Twitter

I don't think I've ever said this before, but honestly, how dare you, Ari?

Load Comments

Back over on Instagram, another hint dropped, along with some more posts.

Instagram | @arianagrande

At least, we assume that it's a hint. Is it possible that this whole Mean Girls thing might have something to do with Ari's huge hit, "thank u, next"?

Load Comments

A new series of posts from Ari seemed to follow the trend of the "Mean Girls" shots.

Instagram | @arianagrande

Between the Mac computer and the caption "whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed," the new pic was clearly a Legally Blonde reference.

Load Comments

And with that detail cracked, it seems that people were able to decipher the rest of the code.

Twitter | @theyalign, Twitter

So, it seems that "the tea" isn't a coming out party at all, it's got something do with four movie references?

Load Comments

Three references to date — "Mean Girls," "Legally Blonde," and "13 Going On 30."

Instagram | @arianagrande via Instagram

Our best guess is that there's a "thank u, next" video about to drop, and that it will be themed after four, iconic, female-fronted movies from the '90s and '00s.

If you've got a better theory, we're ready to hear it.
