Kelly Clarkson Reveals Celebrities Were 'Really Mean' To Her During 'American Idol'

I want to take you back to a simpler time. A time when smartphones didn't exist and the Kardashians were just a normal family from Calabasas.

I want to take you back to 2002. The year American Idol first premiered. I want you to remember the winner, 20-year-old Kelly Clarkson — the young woman with the big voice, and even bigger highlights.

Now, can you imagine ever being mean to her? I know, right? WHO COULD'VE EVER BEEN MEAN TO OUR QUEEN, KELLY CHUNKY-HIGHLIGHTS CLARKSON?!

Kelly Clarkson is an angel. Period. End of statement.

After gaining major fame for winning the first season of American friggin Idol, Kelly continued to prove she belonged at the top, competing with the best of the best in the music industry.

However, Kelly is now revealing the people at the top were NOT very nice to her back in the day.

While chatting with Jennifer Love Hewitt on her show, Kelly revealed Jennifer's nice gesture nearly 20-years ago is still a standout moment for her.

"You probably don’t remember this, but it stuck with me [for] so long… almost 20 years now," Kelly started.

"It was at some kind of MTV Awards, VMAs or something, I don’t know what it was but you ran up to me."

She continued: "It was right in the final three of Idol, everything was happening in a whirlwind and people were really mean to us because we’re from a talent show and it was the first season."

"Everyone was so rude to us, like on the carpet, at the show… it was a horrible experience."

"You came up to me, ran up to me out of nowhere, and were like 'Oh my gosh, I’m really rooting for you.'"

She continued: "You told me, 'Please, keep the ones you love so close. It’ll be a few people in your life unfortunately but this business can be really hard. And just remember to keep those people that really love you.'"

"You just gave me this advice that was really kind at such an unkind time for me personally. So thank you so much, it meant the world to me."

Interesting that I'm crying! What a sweet gesture, I always knew I liked Ms. Love Hewitt!
