Joe and Teresa Giudice have been through the wringer, but most of their stress has been of their own doing. From 2001 to 2008, they are alleged to have defrauded the government. This resulted in a 39-count indictment on bank fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy to commit fraud.

The 39-count indictment was announced on July 29, 2013. According to the document, the Giudices allegedly overestimated their income to get mortgages and loans. In addition, they allegedly withheld information on their net worth, which is not such a hot idea when you're dealing with the government.

In light of the charges against the couple, the two had to surrender their passports in 2013. This also meant that they couldn't leave New York or New Jersey without approval, which is fine, because there are plenty of shopping malls they could frequent instead.

According to allabouttrh.com in a recent story the Giudices now claim they are "in love." Apparently that's what prison will do to you. Any rumours about a divorce are quashed by their lawyer, while Teresa's friend, Danielle Staub, says, "They're in love. He's got a great respect for her, rightfully so." Aw!
