Maybe it's different in Hollywood? They're certainly not the first celeb couple to have a whirlwind relationship like this.
It's not all that surprising when couples in Hollywood break up, yet I can't help but feel a little (okay, a lot) sad for Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson.
According to several sources, the two have called it quits. Both have been quiet about this news, but Ariana recently broke that silence on her Instagram, and our hearts are hurting for her.
So you can imagine everyone's surprise when the pair got engaged after a few weeks of dating, according to *People*.
And although she clearly wasn't, she let it be known that having babies together was something they were planning on somewhere down the road.
And honestly, the two did seem really happy together.
He appeared on *The Tonight Show*, where he told Jimmy Fallon that being engaged to Ariana felt like he won a contest and that it was "[expletive] lit."
And they say romance is dead.
*TMZ *reported that the pair had ended their engagement, and even though the large majority of people were less than surprised, it's still pretty sad news.
I don't really like to believe celebrity gossip unless it's confirmed from that celebrity or their publicist.
A lot of people were upset for Ariana, mostly because she's already been through so much in the last two years. She's way too young to face this much heartbreak all at once.
She shared photos of her taking part in the Wicked 15-year celebration.
Ariana shared the selfie in her Instagram story.
As tough of a time as she's going through right now, I'm sure that we can all agree that she's still out there living her best life.
Oh, but there's MORE...
"Ok today was v special and I'm so grateful I was able to be there," she began.
She added, "It's hard not to bump news n stuff that I'm not tryna see rn."
Staying off the internet is a smart move right now. I couldn't imagine going through a breakup like this and then having the media and basically the whole world talking about it at the same time.
But she did apparently keep the teacup pig, Piggy Smallz, that the couple bought together, again according to *TMZ*.
According to *TMZ*, he backed out due to "personal reasons."
I'm no comedian but even I have a hard time writing humorous things when I'm in a bad mood. Like okay it's literally his job BUT STILL.
But if they did, the song Ariana wrote for Pete, called "Pete Davidson," would be playing over the speakers at K-Mart, and he would be working there.
Right before Pete was set to be on SNL, no less.
Naturally no one had any idea what the song would be about except that it would mention breakups, and so everyone guessed it would be a diss track,
I kid you not when I say I listened to that song on YouTube on repeat for almost an hour. I wasn't even an Ariana stan before, but I am now.
I'm pretty sure, anyway. It's more about self-love — and man, I am so into that. Also, it's catchy AF, and that doesn't hurt.
If she dropped names in this single, I have to think she'll spill some more info on the rest of the album.
It might not be the tea that people were looking for, but I'm totally here for it all the same.
The single is the first by a female artist to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 since Adele did it with "Hello," making it iconic upon release.
The song inspired a brand new meme format that's taken Twitter by storm—from other celebs to brands and companies, a lyrical trio from the song makes for a perfect template.
In fact, Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, even tweeted her lyrics out. Ariana was obviously shook. But it gets better!
We stan a Jedi who can accept his wrongdoings and see the powerful force that is Ariana Grande.
And, of course, we stan Ariana.
